Why do people use dove?

Doves make good pets because they are easy to care for and a lot of people love the cooing sounds they make. On the other side there are a lot of dove releases at weddings and functions, not many people know that most of those birds that are released die shortly after. Doves do NOT have a homing instinct, meaning they fly back home after they are released. Only homing pigeons have that instinct
