Why does a ship need an anchor?

the force of attraction b/w two ships is more than the frictional force b/w ship and the water.If we don't anchor the ship it will collide with other ship with a force equal to the force Gm1m2 /d2.As a result of collision both ships will destroy due to a very high force of attrection.
