What do helgamites eat?

Helgamites, which are the larval stage of the dobsonfly, primarily feed on aquatic organisms. Their diet consists mainly of small invertebrates, such as mayflies, caddisflies, and other larvae, as well as plant material. They are predatory and use their strong mandibles to capture and consume their prey. In some cases, they may also scavenge on dead organic matter in their aquatic habitats.
