Most snails are opportunistic feeders and will eat whatever they can find. They also take up room and use up precious oxygen and produce Ammonia and poo in their environments just as fish do. So snails need to be taken into consideration when working out the stocking levels of your tank. 1 snail is the equivalent of 1 inch of fish. The basic rule when stocking a tank is :- 1 inch of fish needs a minimum of 1 gallon of water.
