Never Cry Wolf is about Natural Law aka survival of the fitest. Wolves were blamed for decreasing the caribou population. We learn in the film, as in nature, that predators keep the prey population in check by preying on the sick and the old. In the film the scientist comes upon a recent wolf kill and discovers the reamains were not of a healthy caribou and alas the wolves are not to blame for the caribou population decline. We also learn that the humans were a greater threat to the natural order of animals. The Inuit hunter preys upon the wolves befriended by the scientist because they had lost their fear of humans. This made the kill that much easier for the Inuit hunter. We also learn that the bush pilot has started a business bringing wealthy game hunters to the area for an easy kill.
