What is a ear squeeze?

Ear squeeze, also known as ear barotrauma, occurs when there is a difference in pressure between the middle ear and the external environment. This condition often happens during activities like flying or diving, where rapid changes in altitude can cause discomfort or pain. Symptoms include a feeling of fullness, pain, or even temporary hearing loss. It can usually be relieved by techniques such as yawning, swallowing, or using the Valsalva maneuver to equalize pressure.
