Will your car make a ticking noise if the timing belt is going bad?

I don't think so. Replacing the timing belt is regularly scheduled maintenance. You can find out how often it should be replaced in the owners manual next to changing the oil, air filter, spark plugs, etc... It's replaced about every 50,000 miles or so depending on the car. A ticking noise can come from lots of things

• low on oil, etc...
