What kind of environment do manatees prefer?

Manatees prefer warm, shallow waters, typically found in coastal areas, rivers, and estuaries. They are often seen in sea grass beds, which provide abundant food sources, and they prefer temperatures above 68°F (20°C). These gentle creatures seek out areas with slow-moving water and plenty of vegetation, as they primarily feed on aquatic plants. Additionally, they tend to avoid strong currents and deep waters.
