A fertilized egg, or embryo, will implant in the lining of the uterus, specifically in the endometrium. This is where it will receive nutrients and support for its development as it grows into a fetus. The implantation process typically occurs about 6 to 10 days after fertilization. If implantation is successful, the embryo begins to develop and establish a connection with the mother’s blood supply.
