How do you change your background image on your laptop?

If you want to change the background on your desktop for Microsoft Windows, first make sure that you are looking at your desktop and do not have any active Windows. Minimize any Windows you are using by clicking on the _ icon in the upper right corner.

Find an empty space on your desktop and right-click. A menu will appear, click on "properties" at the bottom of the menu. A new window will appear, click on the "desktop" tab, second from left at the top of the window.

You can choose from any of the preselected wallpapers in the list at the bottom of the window, or click "browse" on the right to choose a photo from your pictures.

Under the "browse" button is a drop-down menu to select "position". This just means that you will choose how the picture is displayed. For example, a smaller picture might want to be "stretched" to fit the whole scree. You can also choose to have the picture displayed in the "center" of the screen with a solid-color background around it. Your last choice is to have it "tiled" across the screen which will copy the picture and cover your screen with the copies in a grid format.

When you have chosen what you'd like, you may look at the top of the window to see how it will be displayed. If you like it, click "apply" at the bottom right corner of the window to set your changes and then click "ok" to exit the window.
