He was the drummer of Nirvana, 1990-1994. He is currently the frontman for The Foo Fighters. He occasionally jams with Tenacious D and has played with Nine Inch Nails.

He also drums occasionally with Queens Of The Stone Age, featuring prominently on the album Songs For The Deaf. He is also fronts the band Probot, which features Lemmyfrom Motorhead. Also he occasionally jams and performs with his friend, Paul Mc Cartney.

He was also drummer of less know DC punk band Scream, as well as being in smalltown bands such as Mission Impossible, Drain Bamage and Freakbaby as a teenager.
