Where did mackerel originate?

Ocean-going King Mackerel are found in the western coastal regions of the Atlantic Ocean from Massachusetts to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the entire Gulf of Mexico.They enjoy the outer reefs and coastal waters ranging in depth from 75 to 110 feet.
