Does engine have to be dropped to replace oil pan gasket on a 1994 Firebird?

Not at all, simply remove the hex nuts holding the oil pan to the engine (drain oil beforehand obviously), and after removing the nuts, you're good to go. Just scrap the old gasket off the engine block and oil pan, place the new one on, allow sealer to cure and reinstall the pan.
