Cluran, a minstrel. Aagard dose not call him a frien, and Edmund dose not wish to be in his company. But when the old hermit made them promise to stay with the minstrel, Elspeth forces him to agree, and Aagard has charged Cluran with both Ecumund's and Elspeth's saftey 'in the name of the one who never died.' After hearing this, Cluran becomes very angry, and demands to know if they know whom Aagard was talking about. When both children say no, he calms a bit.
