Who won Operation Torch?

The landings in NW Africa were by mainly US forces in WW2. It is a sad fact of History that the French fired upon the very people coming to try to liberate them from the Germans.......... the landings enabled the British, moving west from Egypt through Libya to Tunisia, to corner the Axis forces in North Africa & make possible the landings in Sicily & the Italian mainland.
