How does a wood louse behave?

Wood lice, also known as pillbugs or roly-polies, are primarily nocturnal and tend to be more active during the night. They seek damp, dark environments, which help prevent dehydration, and are often found under decaying leaves, logs, or stones. When threatened, some species can roll into a ball as a defense mechanism. Additionally, they exhibit a behavior known as thigmotaxis, preferring to stay close to surfaces for safety and comfort.
