It may be considered an Art because of the numerous 'pictures' you can 'draw' from the same numbers. Take a Balance Sheet for example. The figures from the same statement can be used to calculate different ratiOS. Although this is a very loose and mostly poetic rationalization for the incorrect answer that accounting is an art.
