Remove rust from aluminum wheels

Aluminum by nature does not "rust" it does oxidize; however if an aluminum wheel becomes stained by a rusting lug nut or center cap the rust can be rather difficult to remove. You may be tempted to use steel wool or an abrasive cloth, DON'T DO IT! Steel wool and other abrasives will scratch the wheel causing further damage. Dealerships and auto detailers have a trick up their sleeves and it's called "Aluma-Brite" It will take just about anything off aluminum wheels including aluminum oxide! However it is very acidic and it will corrode steel like nobodies business it also can cause some mild irritation of the eyes so use it in a well ventilated area
