Who invented the Hummer?

The U.S. Military. EDIT - Not necessarily (spelling?), the HUMVEE (High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicle / HMMWV) was produced by AM General for the military, they then produced the first civilian HUMMER H1's and then General Motors bought the rights and went on to produce the H1 ALPHA, H2 SUV, H2 SUT, H3 SUV, H3 ALPHA, H3x and the H3T.
