Why do brake rotors get extremly hot?

Brake rotors get extremely hot due to the friction generated during the braking process. When the brake pads clamp down on the rotors to slow or stop the vehicle, the friction converts kinetic energy into thermal energy, resulting in significant heat. Additionally, repeated or heavy braking, such as during high-speed driving or steep descents, can further increase temperatures.
