How much does a RN start out making hourly?

The starting salary for RN's differs greatly depending on different regions of the country. For example, in the southeast, RN's can earn as little as $11 an hour if they work in a school setting. If they work in a hospital setting, they can earn $15 to $18 an hour. In the northern states, a new RN can make as much as $20 an hour. It also depends on how short staffed the institution is.
