Can a desert tortoise see in color?

i think they can. my pet tortoise went over to a yellow toy, looked at it, then walked away. then he went to some grass, looked at it, then ate it. this should clarify it.

Yes, they are attracted to the brightly colored flowers in the desert. I have a tortoise that loves to eat bright dandelions. He can see them from quite a ways away, and will traverse great lengths to get to them.
