What type of soil do cashew trees prefer?

Specifically, a cashew tree (Anacardium occidentale) can be grown as grafted trees or from seeds. It is important for a seed to be planted in sterilized soil to guard against competition from unfriendly microbes and weeds. The growing and mature cashew tree is intolerant of waterlogged soils. It therefore prefers sandy soil for good drainage. It will appreciate gentle inputs of nitrogen, phosphorus and zinc since it particularly is reactive to deficiencies in these three soil nutrients.
