The Word sipple cap is commonly used by the Amish and other Dutch areas, including German, that are commonly referred as little Dutchman, near the Netherlands. Originally worn to keep your head warm as you worked out in the cold, but soon was worn by school boys wanting to be like their fathers and from here they started to come in school colors and then worn by both sex.
