Disadvantages of selective cutting

1) Loss of habitats for native species

2) Land is harmed because topsoil cannot be held down, leading to erosion

3) Clear cutting is often performed in places where the land is unsuitable for monoculture agriculture, like in the tropical rainforests, so it probably won't be helpful for production for more than a short period of time.
