Since platinum is a harder metal to work, it needs sophisticated machinery and techniques. Platinum melts at a very high temperature of almost 1,700 to 1,800 degrees and requires considerable skill to craft into jewellery. The metal demands careful handling, precision, detailing and practice and since it is 30 times rare than gold, it is expensive.

The price of the metal has appreciated over the years, and consequently platinum indeed has a resale value. But in comparison to gold, platinum's resale value is less, because of the high production costs that platinum jewellery accrues, reselling is more difficult than gold
