Where do you check transmission fluid on a Datsun 280zx 5 speed manual?

Remove fill plug on side of transmission and fill with 4.25 pints of 80W-90 oil.
If oil should follow out "before" 4.25 pints, STOP, as transmission is full.
Install fill plug and tighten.
