How can you open a 1999 civic hood when the release does not work?

All you need to do is find the hood cable through the grill or by going underneath the car then just pull on it. You may not hear a pop but just pull on it and then try to open it like you normally would. After you have it open you may want to remove the front upper grill because it will be extremely easy to open next time.
