Why did Odysseus insist on seeing the Cyclopse?

because odysseus mens were very hungry and they saw bread and wine in a cave so they decide to enjoy the lovely gift somebody has left, but didnt know something big was coming for them (cyclopse ) so when the cyclopse saw his meal missing he saw the men and ate them intruding in his home .
