What does lemon juice squeezed directly from the lemon do to cuts?

It hurts and has the potential of destroying or damaging more cells. THe active ingredient here is ascorbic acid, aka vitamin C. Its pH is low enough that it can actually delicate damage cells exposed by a wound. While the low pH has a very slight antiseptic effect, the damage it does outweighs its usefulness in a first aid context.
