Why is Carter's dad only allow two days a year with Sadie in the red pyramid book?

Carter's dad only allows two days a year with Sadie in "The Red Pyramid" book because he fears that their connection to the Egyptian gods could put them in danger, and wants to protect them from that world. He believes limiting their time together will keep them safe from the dangers of the magical world they are connected to.
