How do you know a rumor about a guy is true?

Consider the sources where the rumor came from. Do the rumor spreaders have anything to gain or could they be jealous of you or not like this guy. Does the rumor make sense....

Ask the guy about it. Judge the person character against the rumors , judge if you think its possible that they could have done what the rumor is. And Use your best judgement.
