When did McDonald's open in Korea?

It opened in spring 1988, in Apkujong, an affluent district of southern Seoul. I believe they tried to open before the Olympics was in Seoul that year (which was September and October). How do I know this? Through a stroke of fate, I was the very first McDonald's customer in Korea. hilts@mac.com
