Why is animal testing bad for animals?

When animals are used in medical tests they are likely to suffer pain, illness, and quite often death. But remember, these tests serve important purposes in helping medical researchers to discover better ways to treat human illness. Whether animal rights should take precedence over human needs remains debatable.
