There are mosquitos nearly all over the world and there are some in mainland France as well. However the species you find in mainland France do not serve as a vector for serious diseases (they do not carry malaria, yellow fever, dengue fever or chikungunya) and they represent only a minor and somewhat limited nuisance. If you fear them, any pharmacy or supermarket sells repellents.
