To remove the fan from a Duramax engine, first, disconnect the battery and drain the coolant. Next, unbolt the fan shroud and remove it to access the fan. Use a suitable fan clutch tool to loosen and remove the fan clutch from the water pump. Finally, carefully pull the fan off the clutch and set it aside.
