Is listening to songs for free illegal?

To listen to a song for free is not illegal at all.Nor is it illegal to download free songs to your PC,but as soon as you then transfer the song to a disc ...if it has copyrights,this is illegal if it hasn't been paid for through the correct channels.So the answer is no..it isn't illegal to listen to songs which you havent paid for.
