The claims check should be made payable to you and the bank or you and the body shop if you are filing against your own insurance. This is done to protect the bank. Usually you can ask for your preference of being made payable to you and thebank or you and the body shop.

If you are filing against the other drivers insurance company they usually make it straight to you.

Also ask about diminished value. You may be eligible for an addtional amount of coverage...
