When the birds partner dies do you leave the bird alone?

All birds have different personalities and requirement. The bird is used to companionship and if it doesn't have it's mate, it may become self destructive. You may be substituted for the dead bird if you show it attention. It may not accept you depending on the type of bird. Some species do bond for life and will not accept a substitute.
