When does Edward Cullen say he prefers brunettes?

He says this in the third book, Eclipse, after Bella finds out about a blonde vampire from another peaceful vampire clan who had "shown interest" in him. But after assuring her that he never showed any interest back he tells her that he prefures brunettes.
