Metroprolol is not a statin drug.

Metoprolol is used for the heart to help prevent

1) Hypertension.

2) Angina pectoris.

3) Cardiac arrhythmias (especially supraventricular tachyarrhythmias).

It's also used as an adjunctive treatment of thyrotoxicosis.

and prophylaxis of migraine.
