When transfer of kiblah was ordered?

The transfer of the qiblah, the direction Muslims face during prayer, was ordered in 624 CE, in the second year of the Islamic calendar. Initially, Muslims prayed facing Jerusalem, but this was changed to the Kaaba in Mecca following a revelation to the Prophet Muhammad, as mentioned in the Quran (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:144). This shift symbolized a new phase in the Islamic community's identity and direction of worship.
