What birds are associated with Zeus?

Zeus' sacred bird, the Aetos DiOS, was a giant, golden eagle which served as Zeus' personal messenger. Some thought that he was once a mortal king named Periphas whose role was celebrated so much that he was honored like a god. Apollon turned him into an eagle as Zeus would have smote him with a thunderbolt if he hadn't. Apollon then set him beside the throne on Zeus as his messenger.
