A baby can start taking baths once the umbilical cord stump falls off and the area has healed, usually around 1-2 weeks after birth. Until then, sponge baths using a damp washcloth are recommended to keep the baby clean without submerging them in water. After this period, you can begin giving your baby gentle baths in a small tub or the sink. Always ensure the water is warm but not hot, and never leave the baby unattended during bath time.
