Jaguars start out as cubs, which are born blind and helpless in a den. Typically, a female jaguar gives birth to a litter of one to four cubs after a gestation period of about 93 to 105 days. The cubs begin to open their eyes at around two weeks old and stay with their mother for about two years, during which they learn essential survival skills.
