How did Leoh Ming Pei get to America?

Ieoh Ming Pei, commonly known as I.M. Pei, arrived in America in 1935 at the age of 18 to study architecture. He initially enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania before transferring to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he earned his bachelor's degree.
