Ieoh Ming Pei, commonly known as I.M. Pei, arrived in America in 1935 at the age of 18 to study architecture. He initially enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania before transferring to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he earned his bachelor's degree. His journey was motivated by a desire for a modern education in architecture, which he felt was lacking in China at the time. Pei went on to become one of the most renowned architects in the world, known for his innovative designs.
