Archaebacteria, or archaea, are primarily found in extreme environments such as hot springs, salt lakes, and deep-sea hydrothermal vents. They thrive in conditions that are inhospitable to most other life forms, including high temperatures, high salinity, and low pH. Additionally, some archaea are also present in more common environments, such as soil and the human gut, where they play important roles in various biochemical processes.
