Did former president carter run for a second term after his first term as president?

Hi, yes he did but got landslided by Ronald Reagan.

Prior to running for the second term, Ted Kennedy came from nowhere with a massive possible challenge within the Democrat party but he decided eventually not to run against President Carter. Had he fully challenged, it may have been a great election Kennedy v Reagan.
