How do you put John Deere lx255 in neutral?

It is supposed to neutralize itself when pressure is taken off the pedals unless it has the fender-mounted cruise control. If so equipped, the brake pedal is supposed to move it to neutral when depressed.

Adjustment is accomplished on the right side on the linkage back near the transsaxle inside the frame.
