I don't own a Pontiac Grand Am but perhaps through these steps that I will list down, you can get some idea about the process. Good luck!Here it is:
The radiator cools and stores the engine coolant. It is usually mounted on the front of the engine compartment.
These are the things that you should have:
New Radiator
Combination Wrench Set
Screwdriver
Flashlight
Cooling System Pressure Tester
Needle Nose Pliers
Socket and Ratchet Set
3/8 in. Drive Ratchet
1. With the engine off and cold, open the hood and locate the vehicle's radiator.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery.
3. Remove the radiator cap.
4. Place a drain pan under the radiator. Remove the drain plug or remove the lower radiator hose to drain the cooling system.
5. Remove the upper radiator hose.
6. Remove the radiator fan shroud or remove the electric cooling fan assembly.
7. Remove the radiator.
8. Install the new or repaired radiator. Make sure it is aligned.
9. Install the lower radiator hose and clamp.
10. Install the radiator fan shroud or electric cooling fan assembly.
11. Install the upper radiator hose and clamp.
12. Fill the radiator and radiator reservoir with a 50/50 mix of coolant and distilled water.
13. Install the radiator pressure tester and check for additional leaks.
14. Reinstall the radiator cap and negative battery cable. Start the engine.
15. Monitor the engine temperature.
16. Road test the vehicle, maintaining supervision over the temperature gauge.
17. Verify repair by inspecting for leaks or overheating.
